Building control and regulations in Arnold

Structural alterations such as removing load-bearing walls, along with certain electrical, drainage and other work, need to meet Building Regulations, and are inspected either by local authority building control or an approved inspector. Some projects, such as extensions or work on listed buildings or in conservation areas, may also need planning permission. Doing the work in the right order

The biggest cause of delays and extra cost on a renovation is trades arriving in the wrong order. On a typical Arnold project, structural work and anything that opens up walls or floors comes first, followed by first-fix plumbing and electrics, then plastering. Kitchens and bathrooms are fitted next, then flooring and decorating, with a builders’ clean at the end. Because every trade sits under one VTR project, that sequence is planned once and followed, rather than left to separate firms to work out between themselves.
