Cleaning Services explained

What it is

We provide two kinds of cleaning: post-construction builders’ cleans and ongoing regular domestic cleaning. A builders’ clean removes the dust, debris and residue left after renovation work. Domestic cleaning is regular cleaning of your home on an ongoing basis.

Who it’s for

Builders’ cleans suit anyone who has had renovation or building work done, whether by us or another firm, as well as landlords and sellers getting a property ready. Regular domestic cleaning suits busy households who want a clean home without spending their spare time on it.

When you need it

Book a builders’ clean at the end of a renovation, before moving in, or before handing a property to tenants or buyers. Domestic cleaning can be set up whenever you want ongoing help.

Why professional help matters

Construction dust is fine and gets everywhere: inside cupboards, on window frames, in light fittings and along skirting. It settles again after a quick wipe. A proper after-build clean deals with it methodically, so your new rooms actually feel finished.

The cost of waiting

What happens if it’s left

Building dust left behind keeps resettling on surfaces, gets into soft furnishings and can be drawn through ventilation. Paint splashes and adhesive residue harden over time and become harder to remove.

Moving furniture into a dusty house spreads the problem. Trying to clean residue with the wrong products can damage new surfaces like worktops, tiles and flooring.

Common mistakes we put right

  • Moving in before the builders’ clean is done.
  • Dry-sweeping fine dust so it hangs in the air and resettles.
  • Using abrasive products on new surfaces.
  • Forgetting inside cupboards, window tracks and light fittings.

Planning guide

What to know before you start

Why builders’ dust is different

The dust produced by sanding plaster, cutting tiles and drilling masonry is far finer than everyday household dust. It drifts into rooms where no work has been done, settles on top of door frames, inside cupboards and in light fittings, and resettles hours after a surface has been wiped. Removing it properly takes a methodical approach, working from the top of the room down and using methods that capture the dust rather than moving it around.

What an after-build clean covers

A builders’ clean deals with the dust and residue left by construction work. Typical areas include walls and skirting, door frames and doors, windows, sills and frames, inside and outside kitchen units, bathroom fittings, light switches and sockets, radiators and floors. We confirm the scope with you before the clean so you know exactly what’s included.

Protecting new finishes

New worktops, tiles, flooring and fittings can be damaged by harsh or abrasive products. Paint splashes, plaster marks and adhesive residue need to be removed with care so the surface underneath isn’t scratched or dulled. Using suitable methods for each surface is part of a proper after-build clean.

Regular domestic cleaning

Alongside builders’ cleans, we provide ongoing regular domestic cleaning. That’s for households who want help keeping on top of the home on a routine basis, freeing up time for everything else. Talk to us about what you need and how often, and we’ll give you a clear quote.

Finishing a renovation properly

A renovation isn’t finished until the property is ready to live in. Including the after-build clean in your VTR project means the same team that started the job finishes it, with no gap between the trades leaving and the property being usable. It’s the last step in our ‘one team, all trades’ approach.

Cleaning for landlords and sales

Between tenancies or before a sale, a thorough clean makes a property look cared for and helps it let or sell. If decorating or minor repairs are also needed, those can be arranged through the same team so the property is ready in one go.

When to book an after-build clean

The best time for an after-build clean is once every trade has finished, including any final snagging and touch-ups. Cleaning too early means dust from the last pieces of work settles on freshly cleaned surfaces. In a VTR renovation we schedule the clean as the final step, so the property is handed back in a state you can move straight into.

Cleaning after kitchen and bathroom fits

New kitchens and bathrooms collect a particular kind of mess: sealant smears, grout haze on tiles, protective film on units and appliances, and dust inside every cupboard and drawer. Cleaning these areas properly means the room looks the way it should on the first day you use it, and you’re not finding plaster dust in your cutlery drawer weeks later.

Planning regular domestic cleaning

For regular domestic cleaning, it helps to agree which rooms and tasks matter most to you and how often you’d like a visit. That way each clean focuses on what makes the biggest difference to your home. Get in touch and we’ll talk through what you need and give you a clear quote.

What we need from you

Before a builders’ clean, it helps if the trades have removed their tools and materials and any skip has been collected. Let us know about any delicate surfaces, new appliances or areas you’d like particular attention on. For regular cleaning, tell us about access, pets and any products you prefer us to use or avoid. The more we know in advance, the more of the visit can be spent on the cleaning that matters most to you.
